In this world of modded and boutique pedals, it is too easy to overlook the companies that started the whole pedal craze. Well, BOSS has released a line of their own "modded" pedals and upon trying one, the Waza Craft SD-1w Super Overdrive, I was very impressed. This Waza Craft mod sounds smoother, fatter, and more punchy than the BOSS SD-1 I am used to. Used with a clean Fender amp, it was right up there with more expensive overdrives I have tried. The Drive knob gives a very wide range of overdrive, from mellow to fairly heavy, and the tone knob nicely compensates for different rigs or pickups. Although the inclusion of a switch to choose between originall SD-1 and the custom modded one is nice, I can't imagine anyone going back after hearing it with the switch in the modded position. It really rocks.
