About Reed:

Reed Munns began his professional career in the Spring of 1971 at NBN Guitars, repairing and building fine acoustic guitars in an old schoolhouse outside of Longmont, Colorado for the likes of James Taylor, Leo Kottke, and Stephen Stills. After a couple of years there acquiring skills and knowledge under master craftsman Monty Novotny, he moved on to do repair and restoration work for Rockley Music and Melody Music in the Denver area. With his experience in the retail end, Reed next opened and managed a store for Melody Music in Ft. Collins, CO, followed by his first repair shop The Level Fret. In 1978, marriage and wanderlust led him to Tucson, where he worked for Mingus Guitars, had a shop inside The Music Stand, and co-founded Guitars Etc.. After being instrumental in building the business he sold his interest and concentrated on repairs and building custom electric guitars and basses. In the fall of 2000, Reed left Guitars Etc., and assumed management of the repair department at Rainbow. Since then, he has doubled the staff from two to four full-time people who consistently turn out top quality work on fretted instruments from the basic set-up to re-fretting, neck re-sets, complete structural work and expert finish touch-ups.
