My first good guitar was a Japanese made Charvel Model 4 from 1986, I loved the neck on that guitar and it was in my price range at the time. After I started gigging regularly, I strived to own a USA made Jackson guitar, it was the brand that all the famous metal guitarist were using, and I felt my playing was good enough to justify the expense of owning the very best metal axe available.

About five years later, I bought my first USA Jackson, a 1988 10th Anniversary LTD model that had sat at Rainbow Guitars for 3 years. I thought to myself, why isn’t anybody buying this amazing guitar? There were only 500 built, the last 7 frets were scalloped, it had a reverse headstock, 24 frets, a custom paint job, an active electronics mid boost, but here this guitar sits… for the last 3 years! I decided I would make this guitar mine, and made some simple modifications to make it “my dream machine”. I replaced the Jackson trem with an Original Floyd Rose, I replaced the pickups with a combination of Dimarzio and Duncan, and I had the neck re-fretted with Dunlop tall and skinny 6105 frets. This metal axe is now customized to my exact specs, and over the years, as popular musical styles have changed, I changed pickups to keep this guitar sounding modern. Even today, over 20 years later, this is my main Metal guitar, and is the instrument that got me hooked on American made guitars.

I’m always asked, “Is there much difference between Mexican, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, and USA made instruments?” Well, the answer is yes, and I’m not saying that you can’t find a good imported guitar, but there is definitely a high quality factor you notice when playing a USA made instrument, and Jackson USA is no exception. Jackson has been building USA made guitars since 1978, and has been continuously building USA Custom Shop guitars longer than any other USA company. Jackson speaks of their “Bloodline” which reaches back to ’78 and has built the guitars that allowed shredders to influence metal music through the 80’s, 90’s, and 2K years. They are one of the most imitated guitar companies, and they are the ORIGINAL metal guitar manufacturer. Born in the USA.

If you are a serious metal player, you owe it to yourself to play a Jackson USA built guitar, it will last you for the rest of your life. There is a reason you rarely see used USA Jacksons for sale, and that’s because the original owners still have them, and have no intention on giving them up. Jacksons are the Fender and Gibson of heavy metal music. They play faster, and have bigger tone than any other instrument on the market, and they are built for shredding. They look incredibly awesome, and their headstock has become symbolic of heavy metal music.

Metal RULES!
