The first thing I noticed was that the Gurus Amps 1959 Double Decker did not feel like I was plugged into a pedal. I truly felt like I was playing through a great vijntage Marshall amp, but with the gain control variable between slight dirt and modern overdrive. This is one FAT pedal, obviously tube-driven, and extremely noise-free. It also "feels" like a quality pedal- all the controls do what they should and feel solid. The sustain just sings like a great amp with no edginess. Having 2 independent channels, like in a modern amp, really makes this versatile and usable live with any rig. Plus there is a s a Solo button, which you can preset, and is just like having a sound man to boost your solos. What a great design. To add to an already impressive pedal, Gurus Amps has incorporated a speaker emulation that allowed me to record at home without an amp and it sounded equally amazing. The Gurus Amps 1959 Double Decker is in a class of it's own and as classy and impressive an OD as you'll ever encounter.
