This beautiful telecaster pickguard is made of genuine natural abalone of the Paua shell family from the Pacific Rim. It's characteristic, intense grain and brilliant colors make it the shell of choice. Each piece of shell is selected, cut and inlayed by hand. Paua only comes in one natural color, so to aquire a variety of hues, a colored tint is applied, and then coated with a clear hard coating to protect the surface. While many plastic mother of pearl pickguards have been available for some time, Q-Parts was the first to offer the genuine article.
