Noise gates are an effective way to cut down on unwanted noise, hiss, and hum associated with long signal chains. The MXR M195 Noise Clamp does this very effectively and simply. The Noise Clamp includes its own effects loop, which effectively lets you kill noise across your entire signal chain. A single Trigger knob lets you set the threshold at which the Noise Clamp activates, and a green LED lets you know when the gate is active. Sounding great is about more than great tone; use the Noise Clamp and keep your rig sounding great between the notes too.
