What follows is an example of a custom-built Whirlwind Medusa Snake.
Whirlwind's Medusa Series Snakes have been the touring standard worldwide for more than three decades. They're still made in the U.S.A. at Whirlwind's Rochester, New York factory.
The snake presented on this page has 24 input channels ("sends") and 8 returns from the mixer to the stage. There is a 150 foot branch (to the main mixing console) and a fifty foot branch (usually to a monitor board). Each input channel is split or paralleled so that its signal is sent to both mixers, main and monitor.
This snake can be further "customized" by the addition of ground lifts, transformer isolated outputs, quick-disconnects at the stage box and/or at the fan.
