AKG D12VR Kick Drum Microphone
Item: AGD12VR
The AKG D12VR marries some of AKG's classic technologies to some brand-new ideas. Building on the style and concept of AKG's revered classic D12 microphone, the new D12VR (VR for Vintage Reissue) is a large-daphragm cardiod dynamic mic designed specifically for kick-drum. The microphone uses an ultra thin diaphragm to enhance its low frequency performance and deliver an accurate, pure reproduction of the sound source. And here's where the new technology kicks in: With phantom power enabled at the mixing console or interface, one of three switchable active-filters can be chosen using a switch on the microphone body. An original AKG C414 transformer from the 1970's and some newly patented circuitry go to work, enabling you, the user, to select from three different sound "shapes" or filters: (1) a low-end boost for use with open kick drums; (2) mid-range attenuation for a more vintage sound; and (3) mid-range attenuation and low-end boost together with a high-end boost (for use with closed kick drums).
Able to handle up to 164 dB of signal level, the AKG D12VR is guaranteed to impress at any volume.
As a bonus, this product will ship via 2-day sevice at no additional charge (U.S. addresses only).
