This American classic the D-18 was introduced in 1931 and is the original 14-fret Martin dreadnought. The D-18 is loud, with a bright, clear treble and warm, moderate bass, which makes it ideal for both recording and stage work. Solid quartersawn mahogany back & sides, solid spruce top, rosewood bridge and fingerboard, black binding and pickguard.
The Standard Series is really the foundation of the entire line of Martin guitars. Historically every instrument that Martin has built today has evolved, in some degree, from these classic Martin designs, especially the Dreadnought. The large “Dreadnought” sized body, originated by Frank H.Martin and Oliver Hunt in 1916, is the most widely imitated guitar model in the world. Since its introduction in 1931, the Martin D-18 has remained the standard by which all large-bodied, steel-stringed acoustic guitars are measured.
