One of the most innovative guitars to come from the Gibson Custom Shop design team, the signature Lee Roy Parnell Goldtop was built from the ground up with a focus on performance and in collaboration with Lee Roy Parnell. And while it boosts the classic look of a vintage '57 Goldtop, a few minutes in your hands will tell you that Gibson updated their thinking and came up with a true player's guitar, with serious emphasis on creating exceptional tone in an instrument that is sure to be the most comfortable easy to play Les Paul you will own.
The updated features are numerous and significant. The Custom wound Ron Ellis pickups are full of tone. Smooth lows, and a very musical sounding midrange make this guitar sing. The neck is a fantastic feeling smooth satin neck with a comfortable and slightly asymmetrical neck shape. The Cutaway is marginally deeper and beveled while the contoured neck heel is curved to fit your hand like no other. The Big Block pickup cavity design allows the pickup to lay on the wood in the pickup cavity. This allows the pickups to be farther down in the cavity so it will make more of a connection with the wood. This results in a great sounding "woody" sustaining tone. Gibson has a winner here for sure.
