The Collings D1A is one versatile sounding instrument. A cannon of sound that will cut through with any style of playing. Very reminiscent of those famous 30's Dreadnoughts that are so sought after by Bluegrass pickers. Sound wise it has it all from tight big bass tone to clear full highs. This Collings D1A features an Adirondack Spruce top, beautiful Honduran Mahogany back and sides, both with a high gloss nitrocellulose with a beautiful Sunburst finish. The Collings 1 style sunburst is without question one of the most tasteful sunburst finishes available on any guitar.
The Vintage Now neck is a great option for those that think a modern neck is too flat in profile, yet the typical neck on a 40's style instrument is too thick. It features a 1 3/4" nut and 2 1/4" string spacing with a traditional "cut-through" bone saddle. Collings' exclusive neck profile gives you the vintage width and shape, with contemporary playability. The slightly wider string spacing at both ends of the guitar also makes finger style playing and chordal accompaniment easier and more enjoyable.
