Pre-Owned Fender 1973 Jazz Bass
Mocha Brown

Item: USFE73JB

In the '70s there were plenty of blocks of wood being passed off as guitars, but this isn't one of them. This Mocha Jazz Bass plays and sounds great, and at just under 8.9 pounds, is a nice weight, especially for a 1970's bass. The body is made of American alder, and is beautifully resonant. The attractive white pearl bars in the maple fingerboard are quite uncommon, and the original frets have very little wear. The bass has many more years of active playing life left in it. The original factory finish is very tidy, showing only the smallest of occasional marks and chips. However, there is some thumb wear on the neck in the 3rd to 5th fret area. All together though, This Mocha Jazz Bass is in truly amazing condition for a 34-year-old vintage Fender bass!

The not-so-common Mocha Brown colour, which is a transparent and lightly metal-flaked brown is a lot more attractive in the flesh than the photographs can convey! Mocha Brown was introduced by Fender in 1973, when black pick guards and pickups were first introduced on Stratocasters (only with Mocha Brown bodies). The Mocha Brown colour is often confused with the Walnut finish, which does not have the subtle metallic component. The serial number is 504818 and pot codes are dated 1973. It has a four blot-on neck plate. The typical three bolt-on neck plate of the '70s wasn't applied to Fender basses until late 1974. Um-m Mocha - so good!
