The truth behind humidity and guitars.

The truth is, it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to maintain a constant, and balanced humidity level for most guitars. A typical suburban home can be drier than a desert wind if the AC unit or heater is on. The very life of the instrument relies on humidity to keep the woods in good health. In an environment where there is not enough humidity, the guitar surrenders it's own natural moisture to the air. This can be fatal to a guitar (and, in some cases, the warranty). A quick and easy solution is to purchase a small humidifier and utilize it when the instrument is not being played. These can be purchased for a nominal fee, and it essentially insures the player for life against damage and warping, splitting, and cracking. Maintaining a consistent forty to fifty percent humidity level is ideal.
