Thomastik Strings
Every time you read an ad by a string manufacturer they all claim to be “different” from the rest; longer lasting, superior tone, etc. And it is true that there are slight differences from brand to brand. Thomastik is an Austrian manufacturer who used to be known for extraordinary strings for Violins, Violas, Cellos and Basses. They entered the guitar market some years back and many guitarists and electric bass players still are unaware of them. When I first tried a set of Thomastiks (I tried their Power Bright series electric guitar strings) I did the musical equivalent of a double-take. These were really different. They sounded more “even” from high to low notes, they were bright but not edgy, powerful but not boomy, and they felt better, they felt lighter than they actually sounded more flexible and easier to play without sacrificing tone. Then another thing happened. After playing them for days on end they still sounded like new strings! So, what else can I say? They are the best strings I have ever played and I can't go back to any others.
